About falling for anything.
For once, letting the world pass me by
not giving in to the enticing lie
not being the doll to that puppeteer's cry

For once, leaving the whole of it behind
not holding on to the remnant pieces I find
not looking hopelessly for another tell-tale sign

For once, shutting the window I looked out all those times longingly
not worrying another second the memories will haunt me
not thinking of the endless possibilities, what it could be

For once, allowing my clenched fists open, tied hands free
not reaching out for another part of you or he
not expecting a happily ever after because I finally see

For once, quitting on this impossible feat
For once, learning how to destroy this inexplicable need

For once, or twice
Or the thousand millionth time.
