What happens when a family just needs to get away from their frozen town?
The twins awoke with bright eyes, jumped out of their bunk beds, and ran down the stairs excitedly. All they could think about was the amazing trip they would be going on in a few hours. Their mother scrambled around to get them cleaned up and ready to go as they chattered restlessly about their plans.
“I’m gonna go swimming,” eight year old Martha stated proudly.
“Me too, and snorkeling.” Her twin, Mark, echoed her announcement.
They couldn’t wait for the beautiful Caribbean sun and the warm tropic air. It was the middle of winter and they were growing tired of the freezing temperature; a vacation in the tropics is just what they needed, and really wanted. Everyone was caught in the anticipation of the vacation; no one thought to check the current weather conditions.
“Wow, it’s freezing out here.” Mark exclaimed.
“Not where we’re going.” Martha said happily.
They made it to the airport just as their flight was scheduled to leave, and as they rushed to the ticket counter their dad stopped.
“Our flight’s been cancelled.” He said the words flatly. “We’re not going anywhere in this weather.”
