A little poem I wrote and thought was worth sharing.
A life without you is strange
A winter, unrelenting
I find that simple joys are often disregarded
The years that pass breed discontent, rather than laughter

Though we have never loved
You are but a dream in my heart I find myself somehow emptier as days pass
Where must I go for our paths to cross?

I, reluctantly, spend precious minutes with suitors many
Worry not
They know nothing of my body beneath clothing
They are used only for their kindness- so that I may feel wanted

I play those songs in the evening
The melodies that will define our love when it is born
I imagine it to be abrupt and undeniable
Subtle to onlookers as our spirits erupt with vindication

We were not fools for believing

Where were you when the darkness danced through my valleys?
What has time in store for you and I?
Perhaps we are tested for good reason
We must find ourselves first

I will call you Spring and you will know me as Forever
Those unflattering moments given to others will be abandoned
Grateful we will be for them
But no longer will we speak of times past

Lover, I still wait
Oh Fate, lead us to one another, I beg
For my heart relinquishes pieces of its hope with each setting sun
I wish to be burdened no longer
