A poem for one of my paintings
Imperfections
glean off creamy skin
each mark a battle scar
from deep within.
She wants nothing
except for love
from down below
or up above.

Her blood runs warm
in peaceful shame
waiting for someone
to call her name.
Reflections of yesterday
dance in rippled waves,
Reminders of memories
that might have been.

Shadowed innocence hides
cloaked in haloed hair,
Promises broken,
but she doesn’t care
She knows she’s broken
A fallen angel without wings
She can’t remember
the important things.

Gone are her memories
of yesteryear
Gone is her hope
replaced with fear
Yet she wears
the mask of faith,
for all to see
a shield of redemption
she waits to find.
