The world is ending all because of our expectations... (326 words)
Hover cars seemed practical. Think about it, twenty cars can just float above each other and greatly reduce the number of roads needed. Also, gigantic gas guzzling SUVs would become obsolete since there’s no way can something so monstrous “hover” above anything. Well, that’s all good and dandy except for the fact that flying projectiles are even worse than rolling ones. Instead of crashing into a telephone pole, an entire house is suddenly filled with car-sized holes. If humanity used to resemble ants, we now resemble bees.

Dependence on foreign oil isn’t going to be ended anytime soon. How many gallons of gas do you think it takes to launch one of these things? It takes more than a turn of a key to get a huge hunk of metal floating. It takes even more to keep it from falling out of the sky. If you run out of gas all the way up there you’re going to need more than a new car.

However dangerous hover cars are, we have to have them. It’s not the future if there are no hover cars, dammit.  Oh, and yes, laser guns have also been invented along with computers that are the equivalent of human brains. We can also travel beyond light speed and formed an Intergalactic League of Planets with the friendly neighborhood aliens.

Thanks to your day dreaming my life has become a scene out of someone’s worst nightmare. I no longer know if that person in the kitchen is my mother or a high-tech robot that has replaced her since God-knows when.

It would be time for me to go to school, but that’s only for the rich children genetically engineered to look like elves. I, one the other hand, have to now battle mutant cockroaches in the backyard. Whoever predicted that cockroaches could survive a nuclear war was right. Cockroaches are the only animals that are left and damn they are hard to kill.
