I picked a topic (this topic being immortality) and wrote about it for ten minutes.
As Brian walked down the massive hallway, he wondered what he was doing. The ad in the paper said the trial paid enough, but this place was ominous enough to scare even the hardest veteran. He let his mind wander to try and ease his doubts, but all his mind could muster up were deformed pictures he had seen on a message board from past "government experiments" that some bored kid probably stole from a movie website or something. At least that's what he hoped. Just as Brian was starting again to seriously reconsider his life choices, especially the most recent, he had reached the end of the hallway. Their he found a massive metallic door with a keypad instead of a handle, and a man dressed in military attire standing rigid beside it. As soon as the rigid soldier saw Brian, he immediately came to life and punched into the keypad a code. He did it with such enthusiasm that it led Brian to believe the soldier saw little action. The closest he will ever get to firing his weapon would be if the door jammed and he had to blast his way through. He didn't think a pistol would win a battle against the metal door, or if seeing little action was a good thing or a bad thing.
As Brian's eyes adjusted to brightness of the room beyond the metal door he could make out a giant white room, with lots of people running, no more like frantically walking, around and making the whole essence of the room seem very important. In the middle of the room was a chamber maybe eight feet tall and about five feet wide. One frantic white coat caught Brian's eye and stopped in his tracks. As if he had thrown a cog in the busy little machine of a room, everyone began to stop, and all eyes were on him.
"If you would kindly step into the chamber please." said the white coat closest to him. Brian had so many questions to ask, but he had seen everyone stop and stare when he got there and all he had done then was, well, get there. Swallowing his questions and his fear, Brian stepped up into the chamber. It was unusually warm inside, and once the door was shut, uncomfortably dark. All of a sudden he heard a low hum, like something massive was powering up. The humming became louder and louder.
Brian was screaming before he even realized why, and in a flash, he was gone.
"Shut it off!" yelled one of the white coats.
"Damnit" Proclaimed another
"Well, maybe we will have better luck with the next one."
"Let's stop wasting time then. Bring in the next subject."
