I rambled it up during Economics class. I use the same rhyming words a lot, forgive me!
Of Wishes and Fishes

If wishes were fishes, well, I'd have a sea
full of hopes and the dreams that I've buried within me.
The cold, salty water would hold up my shoulders,
and I'd float away on the waves that carry me
(waves that carry me).
One for the money, two for the show;
but I'm just not ready to let this all go,
and I'm waiting for answers that I'll never know,
so I'll float away on the waves that carry me
(oh, they'll carry me).
If wishes were fishes, well, they'd fill up fast
in the confines of tanks, and I'd tap on the glass
to see all of the colors, and patterns, and others
that all float away on the waves that carry me.
These sticks and these stones, they can break all my bones,
but the salt in my wounds won't leave well enough alone;
so I'll say my goodbyes and I'll pack up for home,
floating away on the waves that carry me
(oh, they'll carry me).
One fish, and two fish; red fish and blue fish-
I'll paint them by number and count every single wish,
holding my breath to brace for the impact as I'm diving down
(down, down).
I hope I don't drown
(drown, drown).
I hope I don't drown...

**The end. Like I said, I drabbled this up during my Economics class (because, really, what ELSE is there to do when your professor is lecturing about Malthus and Ricardo for an hour and forty-five minutes?) It's not very structured, and it uses some of the same rhyming words repeatedly, but I kind of like it (: Do you?
