This is a song I wrote when I went back to the place I lived when I was a little kid.
Childhood memories
Aren't what they turned out to be
Looking from an upstairs
Room on the city
The pain in my chest
The sting in my eyes
Won't go away
Everything's different
But nothing's changed
Just the way I see the world
Through older eyes
The worlds and smiles
Are not as I remembered
The streets are dark
But no light is breaking through
The bridges cross
Rolling black waters
I thought It'd mean nothing
It's not how I thought it would be
I was so wrong
And it hurts like hell
My memories have faded
To the back of my mind
They painfully surface
And I bury them deep behind
The dreams that have died
The wishes unspent
The words unsaid
The sting in my eyes
The pain in my chest
Won't go away
