Wild desert
Creosote and cicadas
Birds whisking swiftly past
Cacti and sagebrush
Indian paintbrush
Joshua trees and yucca plant
Tiny butterflies fluttering
From green to yellow
Yellow to white
White to purple
Purple to blue
Blue to red
Foxes slink about when
Nobody’s watching
Tortoises exit their dens for water
The spring is full of tadpoles
Salt cedars pepper the landscape
Bringing green to the sandy scene
What a place this desert is
