A tiny moment of love in a hand hold.
He reached out to me, light dancing in his eyes.
My body filled with excitement and dread, I took his hand.
There we stood, people all around, hands all clasped in like manner,
Yet this was different.
A current flowed through me, our bodies like magnets.
I tenderly let my thumb glide over the pad of his,
My mind on anything but the task at hand.
Only thinking that this was a rare event.
To share this tiny bit of intimacy,
To create this rush of energy.
Before I knew it, parting words were spoken
It was time to open our eyes and say goodbye.
Quickly he grasped my hand in one last squeeze,
As though a parting kiss that could not be.
