Green eyed girl
I wondered about you
when you distilled alcohol
from hand sanitizer
I thought you just had
a problem with germs
but now I can see
your pain runs much deeper
you sweat salty tears
brine that makes my tongue numb
and hoping I don't
have to see you like this
again
but you insist
tell me that my eyes are big
I try to resist
tell myself that you're not well
green eyes swell
a hurt lip trembles
and I sigh
sometimes I wish you were here
instead of there
sometimes I wish that you pretended
to care
about anything!
but you are there
so I run a hand through your hair
and tell you
its okay
