The first encounter of a kitten with snow
Unfurling, stretching, arrogance such that the kin lioness rivalled,
Eyes follow, not in haste but rather in laze, the annoyance conveyed.
Gliding smoothly, posing at every stage. No need to scout around.
Prime territory reserved next to the radiator. Even though just a kitten,
None shall question!

The eyes still in limbo, the blurry transition a foggy mist. They catch a glimpse.
A white, glistened garden glazed and polished. Brightness deafening to the
Reawakening eyes. Falling white crystals, adding and building to this.
Confusion overcoming, the unseen – the origin unknown.
The kingdom’s unwelcome visitor.

Claws curled in attentive patience. Then a jab! The snow unflinching;
The kitten bamboozled. The jabs warding away nothing. Defence unrelentless.
Comfort arrives, a warm hand whisking her up and away. A sheet covering the barrier
To the white arrivals. A jubilant leap filling the reserved spot once again;
The yawns and stretches returning.
