Words of encouragement instill Rosalina with confidence before she meets Peach and Daisy.
Rosalina returned to her room and closed the door behind her; she hurried over to the dresser and opened the top drawer, quickly pulling out a fresh diaper. The diaper was quite large, but soft enough that Rosalina’s fingers sunk into the material when she touched it; the extra bulk made Rosalina smile. Before more time passed, a familiar sensation erased the smile from Rosalina’s face as quickly as it appeared. Her diaper started to feel warm again.

...Another accident?

Diaper in hand, Rosalina closed the drawer and walked to the bed on the other side of the room, all the while feeling the wetness spread even more. Once she was ‘relieved’, Rosalina sighed. She looked down at the new diaper in her hands and smiled, “well, I suppose there are some pluses to having...bladder issues,” she thought.

“Bladder issues”; I wonder...

Before sitting down, Rosalina tossed the new diaper on the bed in order to remove the wet one she was wearing. She lifted up her dress to see how bad things were; her diaper was soaked, and it was starting to leak, as well. Rosalina didn’t waste time in unfastening the tapes on both sides, letting the diaper fall to the floor; she wiped a little bit of dribble that was running down her thigh. As fast as she took the old one off, Rosalina changed herself into the new – and much thicker – diaper.

Rosalina’s overnight diaper was about two inches thick all around (compared to her one-inch thick regular diapers), but the material was soft enough to allow her to walk without a noticeable waddle. A diaper change was a routine thing for Rosalina, but she couldn’t help but feel a bit of excitement over it. Rosalina disposed of the old diaper and ventured back to the kitchen, it wouldn’t be long before her muffins were done baking.

Upon returning to the kitchen, Rosalina inspected the timer on the oven: “10 more minutes.” She put a hand on the island countertop and leaned back, “I guess that means a little break for now,” she commented. Rosalina looked up at the ceiling and pondered things: “I wonder how today will go; I mean...I invited Peach and Daisy over to talk about...” she placed a hand on her dress, the thick diaper crinkled. She sighed and look at the timer again – 8 minutes – and pondered some more. “I haven’t been on this planet long, but they have been very supportive in the short time I’ve been here,” Rosalina said to the empty kitchen. Suddenly, a squeaky voice surprised Rosalina: “They’re your friends, Momma.”

She turned to find a Luma floating by the fridge, “little one?” The Luma replied “friends will always love you, Momma!” A warm smile enveloped Rosalina’s face, “that’s very sweet of you, little one.” Rosalina extended her arms, motioning the baby star to come closer; the Luma cheerfully floated towards her mother for a hug. Rosalina pressed the Luma against her chest, she patted it on the head; “you know just how to cheer a girl up!”

Rosalina held the Luma in her embrace until a loud “BEEP” interrupted them; “Oh, the muffins are done!” She gave the little star one last kiss and sent it off to play with the other Lumas. After grabbing a nearby oven mitt, Rosalina opened the oven to retrieve the baking tray that was inside; a sweet, rich smell filled the kitchen that teased her nostrils a bit. Rosalina placed the muffins on the countertop to let them cool, as she took off the oven mitt another noise interrupted things: the doorbell. “It’s a bit early, but it looks like my guests are here!”

Two smiling faces greeted Rosalina as she opened her front door. Peach and Daisy were standing on her front steps; Peach greeted Rosalina “Good afternoon, Rosalina.” Daisy’s reply was much more casual, “Yo! How’ve ya been?” Peach turned to Daisy, “isn’t that a bit rude for a princess to say?” “Oh, it’s just a casual meeting between friends; what’s the big deal?” Daisy replied. She then turned back to Rosalina, “you don’t care, right, Rosie?”

Rosalina smiled back, “not at all; after all, we’re just enjoying each other’s company. Come in!” A large grin enveloped Daisy’s face, “that’s the spirit!” Peach and Daisy walked into the castle; as Peach kneeled down to take off her shoes, she said “sorry if we’re a bit early, we haven’t been here for a little while, so I forgot how long the trip was.” Rosalina shook her head, “actually, your timing was perfect; I finished off all my chores for the day and the baking just came out of the oven.” “I was wondering what that aroma was!” Peach exclaimed as finished taking off her shoes; she stood up, “I’ve never had any of your baking yet, so it will be a treat!”

Peach’s comment embarrassed Rosalina a little, “oh, stop; it’s nothing special, just my mother’s old recipe.” “That makes it even more of a treat,” said Peach; “more often than not, a personal touch will beat any professional bakery by a mile!” Rosalina replied “I guess that’s true;” just then, she just remembered one important detail, “Tea!”

“Tea?” Daisy asked; “yes, I haven’t made any yet; I knew I forgot something!” Rosalina responded. Rosalina led Peach and Daisy to the recently cleaned sitting room and offered them a seat. “I’ll just be a moment; it’ll also let the muffins cool for a bit. Please, make yourselves at home.” “Take your time, dear; we’re in no rush,” Peach said in a calm manner. She sat down on one of the couches and relaxed, “I don’t have to be anywhere today, so take as long as you need to.”

Despite Peach’s comment, Rosalina still felt a bit flustered; she then felt a hand on her shoulder, it was Daisy’s. “Just relax, everything’s gonna be alright today,” she said softly. Rosalina took a second to calm herself mentally; she then turned to Daisy and nodded, “thank you, I needed that.” Daisy smiled back and patted Rosalina’s shoulder, “just do what you need to do. Pretend that we’re not here for a moment.” Before she left for the kitchen Rosalina said one more time, “I’ll just be a moment,” smiled and calmly walked out of the sitting room.

Daisy sat down on the same couch as Peach, she crossed one of her legs over the other and let her arm hang behind the back of it. As she slouched, Daisy let out a small sigh; “well, one small crisis averted.” “She seems really nervous right now,” Peach said; “oh, I hope it’s nothing serious.” Daisy responded, “nah, everything will be fine; honestly, I think she’s just a bit nervous because she hasn’t had to open up to many people like this before.” Peach ‘oh-ed’ in understanding, “that makes sense, what with her living in space most of her life and all.” Daisy tapped her nose with her finger to confirm Peach’s accuracy.

“Still, I don’t blame Rosie for being a bit nervous,” Daisy said casually. She put her other arm behind the couch and stared up at the ceiling, “I mean, if I were in her position...I’d be a little terrified.” Daisy’s eye caught a glimpse of Peach snickering to herself, “what’s so funny?” Peach stopped giggling and replied “sorry, it’s just that, I’ve never heard of you being scared of anything.” Daisy’s face reddened a bit, “well...I...” she stammered. The two women looked at each other for a moment, and then started laughing.

“Alright, alright; I admit that I’m not totally fearless,” Daisy said, trying to collect herself. Peach excitedly replied, “so what are you afraid of then?” “Ha!” Daisy exclaimed, “like I’d tell you that!” Peach pried some more, “come on! We’re best friends, aren’t we? You can tell me...” Daisy looked Peach in the eyes and asked, “why do you want to know?” Peach hesitated slightly, “well, to be honest...” Daisy leaned in, “...yeah?”

“I want to know because...I think it’d be funny to see a tomboy like you scream like a little girl over something!” Daisy’s face reverted to a blank stare, after a second she said “...that’s the most twisted thing I have ever heard you say.” It wasn’t long before Daisy started laughing once more, amidst which she said “well, now I’m definitely not going to tell you!”

Rosalina re-entered the sitting room just as Peach and Daisy’s strange conversation came to an end; she was holding a large serving tray, stocked with a teapot, cups, saucers, and a few muffins on a plate. “I’m glad you two were able to stay entertained while I was finishing up,” Rosalina said with a smile. Peach replied, “well, our conversation began as somewhat serious, and then things took a strange turn.” Daisy rubbed the back of her neck and chuckled, “yeah, I found out Peach here has a bit of a...twisted sense of humour, let’s say.” Rosalina placed the tray down on the table and sat down in a couch across from Peach and Daisy; “I would have never pegged you for that, Peach.”

Peach began to defend her statement, “I didn’t mean anything weird by it! I swear!” Daisy bent towards the coffee table to help herself to some tea; “you did say that you wanted to know what would make me scream like a little girl, I guess that would send some mixed signals.” Rosalina took the teapot from Daisy once she was done; “I can picture her saying that now,” she said while pouring the tea into a new cup. Rosalina lifted the cup to her mouth and took a sip “it’s still pretty funny, though!” Daisy responded, “I know, right?!”

Embarrassed, Peach snagged one of the muffins and took a big bite out of it; “how did such a simple question end up like this?” “Sorry, Peach?” Rosalina said, “I didn’t hear that – your mouth is full.” Peach blushed and swallowed the food stuffs in her mouth, “nothing,” she replied; “by the way...this is delicious!” “Aw, thank you!” Rosalina said cheerfully. Daisy took Peach’s hint and grabbed a muffin for herself and took a bite: “mmm...this is way better than anything that I can get back home!” Peach and Daisy’s warm reception brightened Rosalina’s mood significantly; she now felt that nothing could go wrong today.

Rosalina drank some more tea, placed the cup back on the table and said “well, I think I’m ready to get this off my chest.” Peach and Daisy looked right back at Rosalina; all of their focus was now on her. “Well, you both recall that I had something that I wanted to tell you. I’ll admit that, I’m really nervous about this because I don’t know how you will respond. Whatever the outcome, I just want to tell you, Peach and Daisy, that I’ve become very close with the both of you since my arrival on this world a short time ago. In this short time, I’m happy to call you both close friends, and I hold the same to be true.”

Peach and Daisy both nodded in agreement, nothing more needed to be said. Rosalina took one hard swallow and began to speak once more:

Well, here goes...

“Well, the thing is...I wear diapers...and I have been all of my life.”
