A poem about a boy finding his pup.
My pup, my pup, where has he gone now?
I’ve looked this way and that, and nothing!
Except for paw tracks and his territory markings,
he is nowhere to be found!

Under my bed, across the lawn,
over the fence, and into the pond,
nothing was found, so what
happened to my dog?

The day dims to night and supper is now served,
but with no licking at my toes or
eating my vegetables, I hardly
made it through.

I do my chores and start on my homework,
but with no panting at my side
or gnawing at my pencil,
nothing was the same without.

I lie in my bed, worried about my pup.
1:00...2:00...3:00 o’ clock, and nothing,
until I hear a yelp from outside
by the road, It had to be him!

I toss on my shorts, my shirt, and my boots,
opening the door, expecting my pup
but only see car lights in the distance
with a man standing by.

I pass by my dad, trying to keep me in,
but I had to see what the man had done.
So I run to the road, my eyes wide open,
I’ve just now seen where my dog has gone.
