Courage comes through grace.
I fell to knees in helpless dread,
shredded heart lay lost within.
My world broken, my mind forlorn,
chaos knocking at life’s door.

"Lord, where have you gone when I need you most?”

Blame and torment, my companions;
rejection poisoning the soul.
Step by step, but going nowhere.
Pain starving spirit’s comforts.

“Lord, I’m drained from doing this all alone.”

Searching for strength in all I knew –
bottle, drug, body to hold.
‘Miracles come blessed love.’
Heaven's promises ignored.

“Lord, deliver me from consuming ache.”

Light broke through my army of one,
gift of grace to set me free.
Tentative, swollen eyes I raised,
releasing pain brutally clutched.

“Lord, my burden with faith I give to you.”

Despair dissolved as peace engulfed.
World around remained the same,
yet through His promise I transformed –
broke by man, revived by God.

“Lord, thank you for courage when I am weak.”

Psalm 31:24 “Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD.”
