Similarities of a single leaf on a tree in the breeze and an old man rocking on the porch.
Winter Man

A winter leaf old and dry
Shaking cold as winds go by
Its youth is lost
By seasons cost

Alone and frail
To what avail
Its beauty spent
Its time is rent

Used its life upon this earth
To build upon future’s worth
And now its leather skin
Is all alone, it has no kin

It is it alone that remains
Listening to winds refrains
Again old man quietly rocks
Upon the porch near the docks

As a winter leaf old and dry
Shaking cold as winds go by
His youth is spent
His time is rent

Used his life upon this earth
To build upon future’s worth
And now his leather skin
Is all alone he has no kin

It is he alone that remains
Listening to winds refrains
Again old man quietly rocks
Upon the porch near the docks
