Love and betrayal often come hand in hand
A poet's heart comes with a poet's mind,
and I am no exception.
So gaze at me through the glass,
and witness my deception.

My poet's mind sees you there
standing in his arms.
My poet's heart seeks to love,
and to win your love through charm,

But my poet's mind is not the kind
to leave things up to chance,
and so with a single note,
we begin this horid dance

“Come to the well my boy,
and let the game begin.
Let's hope that you can save your love,
for she is trapped within.”

As the boy peers down the well
he sees nor hears a thing,
but feels two hands upon his back
as the gray ones snip his string.

“Do not fear my dear,
for perhaps he'll come today,
and if not then he is daft,
for I am here to stay”

So now you've seen my poet's soul
and gazed upon my shame,
but if you had a poet's heart,
would you not do the same?
