Going against God's will is nothing more than Sin. Sin is viewed in many ways-
"Worthless piece of..." Spit hit the small girl in the face as she held her delicate hands over her ears to block out the slew of swears that followed the drunken orphanage owners rant. She pulled at her bright ginger hair with her free fingers and he lifted her up by her ponytail like she was a kitten.
"Don't ignore me when I am speaking! I am your God until Nash decides your fate-" He threw her down and kicked her in the stomach, causing her to spit up the slightest bit of blood. She quaked in fear as the large man stood over her.
"Your damn whore of a mother; dare giving birth to a Sin filed piece of shit like you. How dare she cheat on the richest Duke this side of Lacrimosa!" The man poured a bottle full of gin down his throat and wiped his nasty mouth on his sleeve, walking away from the disheveled girl. She shook as she tried to sit up, burying her face in her dirty knees and pulling and ripping at her red hair.
"You..you've..b-been a bad gi-rl Mikah..A v-v-ery b-bad girl.." She sobbed, tearing clumps of her hair out and causing her scalp to bleed as well.
"Your momma..momma is a sinner..N-nash said so..Sh-she did a b-bad thing and I..I am th-the sin.." She repeated the sentence over and over, the words had been pounded into her memory from daily 'lessons' on why she was alive. The day was beginning to pass and the moon rose up into the sky, the stars illuminating the darkness. Mikah looked back and coughed, rubbing tears out of her eyes.
"Nash..h-he wanted me to live th-this way.." she murmured, curling up on the dirty, cold concrete ground. The building was eroding from under her as she closed her eyes, pitch black filling her sense.
"I..i-m dying." she smiled as her life drew from her body.
-----
Mikah awoke the next morning, healthy.
"But..i..i died!" she pulled at her clothing and looked around. She had a large set of wings sprouting from her shoulder blades.
"I'm a ghost!" she shrieked, standing up quickly and running outside. Her body felt healthy and she could feel the movement in her muscles. It felt so unnatural for her to actually be healthy. She looked around, clumsily figuring out how to stretch her wings.
"But..the orphanage owner told me Nash wanted my kind dead..why aren't I in Hell?" She was incredibly confused as she watched the clouds slowly drift across the sky. Mikah quickly decided her job was to haunt the orphanage and seek out her revenge.
"I'll show you sin!" She cackled wildly, stretching her wings and heading for the orphanage again.
-----
After thousands of years of haunting the orphanage and town, Mikah had begun to forget why she was even doing it. Each day filled her with more and more hatred and misery, eventually returning to her old routines of crying in the orphanage building and waiting for death. She waited there for 4,526 years until that one day...
