Poem about Halloween
31st of October

The branches scratch across the dark

star filled, moon lit sky

Leaves skitter on

cold concrete

As young children

trick-or treat.

Above them all

watch eyes of all colors

creating a pall over the town

From the tree tops

on down.

Witches fly across

the moon,

Ghosts flit across

the stars

Tired kids

get in their cars.

It's time to leave

All Hallows Eve

Witches, ghosts and kids

return to their digs

Until next Halloween

when they all reunite

the living

the dead

and the in-between

Til then

they float and disappear

from whence they came

for one more year.
