this story is about dirtbikes
My name is john and I am 20 years old. I am 6 foot tall. And I love riding. I have been riding dirt bikes and quads for a long time now. I live in Nashville Tennessee. I like to live somewhere close to a motorcross track so that I don’t have to go very far. I’m working on becoming pro in motorcross and hopefully I succeed to do that. Right now I am working on my dirt bike that just got crashed at my last race I was in. I snapped the brake lines in half. There is a big dent inside of the forks. The plastic is snapped in some spots on the bike. My last race was in California at the mx track. To get new parts for my dirt bike I have to travel a long time to get them. Free riding is the most fun part about dirt bikes. It is very fun because you’re riding deep down in the woods riding trails and looking for new trails and making some trails you’re self. Going past all of those trees twisting and turning the deep forest and going really fast. Racing on the track is fun to. Sometimes if you race and you do really well you will get sponsored by the company’s that is the make and model of your bike. Racing is a bit scary at some points. Like going up in the air or at the beginning of the race it is really scary because you think you’re going to wreck but you’re actually not going to. Racing is also nervous because the second to last lap you think you’re going to wreck or something bad happen to you or your bike and everything starts to get bad.
Right now I’m getting ready for the next race. For this race, I have to travel to Des Moines, Iowa. It’s going to be great! So that next day I was loading my bike into the trailer and I was getting ready to leave but I remember where I was going so I needed a drink and some other stuff. So I got my water and everything and I was on my way to the big race in Des Moines, Iowa. The drive there was about 4 hours long and it felt like it was all day but I got there about 5 in the afternoon. The next day was the big race so I had to get some sleep before the big day tomorrow. So I unloaded my bike and I cleaned it all up and cleaned everything out of it and then I ate and went to sleep. Well I woke up the next morning and I felt really good. Then the race came then I was nervous of not winning. The race started and I was flying down the track and it’s about the third lap in and this guy comes up beside me and does a big tail whip causing me to crash. Well here comes the hospital. I had to get life flighted back to the nearest hospital and had to have surgery done on both legs. I had to wait about three months before I could start riding my dirt bike again. It took longer before I was able to race. I had to prepare to race again, that took a year.

Now I’m on my way to Massachusetts for my first race since the accident. I am very nervous that I won’t do well. I really need to win because I could use the money. It takes a lot of money for mx racing. There is an entrance fee with all races. Also you have expenses for gas and parts for the mx bike. The race starts in about two hours. I have to recheck everything on my bike to make sure it’s ready for the race. Now it’s time to qualify for the race. It’s a three lap race and if you get first second or third you can pick what spot you want to be in to start off the race. I qualified in second place. Now the race is about to start. I am very nervous for this race but I will try my best to get first place. I was in second place on the second to the last lap. I pulled ahead on the last lap and won the race.

On my way to Pennsylvania for the next race. I’m really excited about this race because my family will be there. Before I was on my way to Pennsylvania I worked and shined my bike all up. The race is Friday; I got there Thursday night and met my family for dinner. Friday morning when I awoke I went to get some breakfast so I felt somewhat good about myself and the race today. When I arrived at the track there were over 200 people at the race waiting for sign ups at the gate. Signups start about 2 hours before the race. I’m really nervous about the number of racers. This is the biggest race of the series so far. Glad my family is here to cheer me on. Well I made 4th place today at the race and I just hope I can do better next race. Well last race I checked my bike and didn’t sound too good at all. Something was wrong, it didn’t seemed like it wanted to start or stay running. So I took apart my bike and stuff and I finally found the problem. The carberator had a lot of dirt and dust in it from my last race. So I had to air it out and clean it up before I could put it back on the bike. So I have got the bike back together and it’s running perfectly fine and all I need to do is put oil and gas in it and It will run better.

My next race is in hard rock Florida at the mx track. To get to Florida it is about a 3 day drive and I need a lot of stuff to get me through that drive. Mean while I’m loading my bike up in the truck because the race is 3 days away, but I’m leaving 3 days early. I want to get there before the race starts so I’m not going to be missing the race. On my way to Florida and have to stop and get gas and food and drinks. I’m 1 day in on the way to Florida and I feel something outside of the truck so I pull over and decide to take a look at it, it was my tire. It was flat and I had no spares or anything to take the tire off. I called the nearest tow truck company and they came and picked me up, so they could fix my truck so I can get back on the road. Well looks like I have to spend the night and the guy said it will be ready tomorrow morning. The next morning I went to get my truck and it was all fixed. There were still 2 days to get to Florida and I’m not even half way there. About an hour later I stopped to check and see if the bike straps were still tight so it didn’t fall off and checked my tires and stuff like that, everything was good. Made it another day I stopped to get some sleep and will recheck everything before I start back on the road. Had a good sleep, checked everything and am on my way again. I’m getting closer to hard rock and can’t wait till race day. Well don’t you know more trouble I ran into traffic it’s going to be a while it looks like. Traffic is at a standstill no one is moving. Not sure what the problem is maybe a wreck or a lot of people heading for the race. Well just found out that a semi lost its load of watermelons. It will take them a while to clean it up. Yes on my way again hopefully no more delays. Just made it to hard rock and going to find a place to camp out for the next few days before race time. Got settled in and plan on going to test out the track. Got my bike all ready and ran a lap and was having a little trouble with the chain. So I went back to my camp and worked on the chain some. I was a little stressed so I went for a swim in the pool at the camp grounds. Worked on the bike some more and then went to bed.

Well it’s race day again and it’s time to get lined up for the race. I’m still nerves. Each race is the same I’m always so nerves but at the same time excited to see how it goes. We’re off and I’m in third place rounding the last turn in the last lap I pull up to second place. The race is over. I came in second place but that’s ok because men came up to me at the end of the race and ask if I would like to have a sponsor. I have a sponsor for a year. How awesome is that.
