Tommy believes his father is a murder. H eblieves his dad killed his mother.
Haunting Past
“Beep, beep, beep, beep” the fire detector yelled. Ryan woke up and saw the living room was on fire. He saw his wife sitting on the couch with a cigarette in her hand. He rushed down and grabbed his wife. His wife had been burned from half of her face.
“No she is dead!” he yelled.
“Daddy!” his little boy screamed.
“Tommy I am coming”. Ryan yelled. Tommy ran out of his room and towards the living room downstairs.
“Hold on tight” Ryan said as he picked up his son.
“But daddy what about mommy” Tommy asked?
“Leave her there,” Ryan said. He jumped out and fell right to the ground. Ryan passed out, and Tommy screamed for help.
“Hey are you okay” Tommy asked? Ryan had finally woken up from losing conscious after the fall.
“Yeah I am fine son” he replied. The doctor walked in and said
“Sir you will be fine, but your wife passed away”.
“Noo daddy let mommy die” Tommy yelled. The doctor really didn’t want to argue with a little boy so they took Tommy to the play area. Tommy cried for nights because he knew he no longer had a mother.
“Noo if I have no mother than I have no father either”. Tommy told himself.
Ryan and Tommy lived in Brooklyn New York, and it was the late 1980, this was when drugs began to come in. Tommy was only 5 so Ryan didn’t think he would get in much of trouble. Ryan believed this was a great lost losing his wife but he could bond more with his son. Tommy hated his life; he missed his mother a lot and needed her around. One night when they were eating super Tommy asked his dad
“Why did you let mommy die”? The room went silent then Ryan replied
“It was meant for her to leave, Tommy she is gone forget about her”. Tommy ran up to his room confused and shocked.
“How could her say that, I swear he is the killer.” Tommy yelled. “He killed my mother”.
“Quit asking about your mother, now you have me,” Ryan yelled.
“No if I don’t have a mother then I will no longer have a father” Tommy replied.
“Go to sleep now” Ryan yelled! Tommy went to bed. The next morning Tommy walked to school by himself. Usually Ryan would walk him but Tommy wanted no part of him no more. While walking to school he saw two men who were running at him.
“Hey boy hold this, and we will buy a toy,” One of them said. They put a sack of coke in Tommy’s pocket and left. Tommy went to school not knowing what he had in his pocket. He got in class and took it out. He thought it was salt.
“Why would he give me salt?” Tommy asked. He told the teacher if he could throw it away. She looked at the bag and grabbed Tommy’s hand. She sent him to the principal’s office and got in huge trouble.
His father was very disappointed and said, “You are no longer what I raised”. Tommy decided to go on his own way. He didn’t care what people think. He began to learn the streets of New York, and began to do drugs. By the age of 14 he had done it all you name it. Tommy had no regrets and he started to feel like he didn’t have a father. Ryan could do nothing as he saw his son go down the wrong road. All he did was hope for the best, and that his would realize what he is doing is wrong.
It had been a 10 years after the death of his wife. Ryan was in trouble financially.
“It’s time to get out of the army and help my son”. He got out and got a job as teacher in high school.
“Hey son I got a job as your high school English teacher”.
“I really don’t care what you are, your still a murder” Tommy replied. Tommy ran out the room. Ryan sat down and started to cry.
“If only he knows what really happened”. He looks out the window and saw Tommy with his friends.
“Dam I hate those delinquents” Ryan said. Ryan went to the kitchen and made himself a sandwich.
Meanwhile Tommy and Roderick started talking.
“Hey man what you been up to” Tommy asked his friend Roderick.
“Nothing bro just smoking them blunts, Say I got two cousins that have a big package for me go pick it up for me” Roderick told Tommy.
“Aright I’ll be back then” Tommy said. Tommy began walking to the gasoline station on the other side of town. Ryan came back to and saw Tommy wasn’t there. He got out of the house and asked Roderick
“Hey where is Tommy”
“Don’t worry old man he just going to go get me some Mary Jay” Roderick replied. Ryan ran to the house and grabbed his gun. He ran out of his house and hit Roderick in the face with the gun. Roderick hit the ground, and grabbed his phone.
“Hey cuh get rid of Tommy” Roderick told his cousin. Ryan got in his car and went full speed to the gasoline station.
Tommy arrived at the gasoline station but then two men walked up to him.
“Hey you Tommy” they yelled.
“Yeah I head you got my boy some for him” Tommy replied.
“Yeah we got something for you” one of the men said. One of them pulled out a gun and hit Tommy in the face. “Turn around punk, it finna be nice and easy” one of them said.
“Yeah it will be easy” Ryan said he had a gun and fired it. One of the guys got shot in the mouth and he hit the ground. Tommy soon crawled to his father.
“Tommy are you okay” he asked.
“You came for me you really do care” Tommy replied.
“Yeah I do, ahhhhhh” Ryan yelled. The other guy had shot Ryan in the chest.
“Dad” Tommy yelled. They two men ran into an alley. Soon Tommy called 911.
“Son” Ryan said.
“Yes dad” Tommy replied.
“When I went downstairs and I turned your mother she was already dead, when I said leave her there, there was no point to take her she was dead already” Ryan told his son. Tommy started to cry because he hated his father for 10 years for a stupid reason.
“I am sorry dad I really am I love you” Tommy said. The ambulance came and took Ryan to the nearby hospital.
The doctor told Tommy that his father wouldn’t make it. Tommy went into the room to have his last words.
“Tommy I need to tell you something” Ryan whispered.
“When I went down stairs and your mother was already dead,” Ryan said. I didn’t mean to say leave her there. I did not want you to see what had happened.
“Dad I am sorry I thought you left her to die” Tommy replied.
“I would never let her die, I love her” Ryan whispered quietly.
“Beep, beep, beep” the machine screamed.
“No it’s happening again” Tommy yelled.
“beeeeep!” the machine yelled. His father was gone. Tommy fell to the ground and cried his eyes out. He got up and gave his father a hug and a kiss and left the room. The nurses had entered the room and put Ryan in a body bag. Some guy came in the room and grabbed Tommy. He took him to his house so he can grab some of his stuff. The man was telling him that he would have to be put in a foster home because of the death of his father. Tommy was sad but he understood what was going on. He ran to the garage and grabbed a letter his father had written him when his mother passed away. That was the only thing he grabbed and he left all of his belongings because they were not important to him, as much as the letter his father wrote.
It had been 4 months of his father’s death, some family had token interest in Tommy, and they were going to adopt him. Tommy was happy that he could live his life free. He now understood his father and he never stop thinking of him ever since he died. He walked out and the woman introduced him to his new family. Their name was Ryan, and Amy. Tommy smiled and he knew his parents from above were watching him and he knew that he would live a happy life. Tommy ended up graduating and got a degree in teaching. He became a teacher like his father, but Tommy eventually died at the age of 28. His drug addiction took him to the limit and he had many health problems.
