A symbolic poem about a beautiful flower, and the comfort of love.
There was a time in this life
when all that I could find
was the cutting of a knife
brought by the winter wind

The season saw me saddened
no happiness i found
but then the weather happened
to bring springtime around

And as the gray clouds lifted
the bright rays began to shine
my spirits then had shifted
toward a feeling more sublime

The cause of this emotion
was a peculiar thing indeed
not a more beautiful commotion
than the flower between my feet

A small green stem supporting
the most delicate display
of golden radiance shining
beyond the glory of the day

So in awe of this little flower
I nearly forgot to breathe
and then I started to cower
lest the flower discover me

Within my heart I knew that I
was brought here of accord
not by man but of Divine
I was led here by the Lord

For in my state of sadness
and in my deep despair
this flower brought me happiness
and I longed to linger there

At long last the battle ended
and my heart conquered my head
and on one knee I bended
as my face shone brilliant red

The flower was so lovely
I could not leave it there
and so it now goes with me
for it prevents my own despair

While now this golden flower
fades from its brilliant state
I shall always have the power
a memory to recreate

As I continue on my journey
I have found that I treasure
not the flower for it beauty
but the love that we have here.
