What you wish you never knew...
THE BARRENNESS

A morning dew lowly settles
and love, bored, has silent left
As sensitive skin lain in nettles
the sting of emptiness when bereft

A valley as a simple candle
damp the wick in tears of loss
Where sullen echoes fail to handle
lingering darkness amid the cost

A bubbling brook; a river red
like blood meandering a lonely path
To bend and twist the lovers' bed
with scenes of sheets uncleansed in wrath

Dusk draws as near as thought
while lowered skies drain sublime
Fate by chance again is caught
asleep as barren cries in time
