Sometimes the fear comes from within
Shadows, dark images of pain

which ebb and flow; tidal

motions of reality and nightmare.

Violent flowers, spewing forth nectar

to the observant and open minded.

A mask, worn to conceal his true state

pulled tightly; cutting off those prying eyes.

Victims fall, flies buzzing over the feast

as he recklessly moves on.

Here is the dark, welcoming, concealing

enveloping his mind in its cocoon.

Indefatigable, stoic and determined; laughter

escaping from his dripping maw.

Here, in this place of horror no escape

is possible. Caged tigers rake the flesh

as he thrashes for release.

Body count, violent addition to the ranks

of the insane. Thorazine, flowing through,

into his vein. Peace returns.
