I'm not usually one for poetry, but this practically burst from me the day my sister died.
On this day a tortured soul left this world for some well deserved peace.

Her tormentors came first as a horrible relative,

followed by a horrible spouse.

Even in the darkest moments of her tortured life, there were blessings.

The first blessing saved her life physically,

while the second blessing saved her life mentally.

Then a bright blessing came to join her first two blessings,

and he became her wonderful spouse.

But even after the tormentor had left her life, the torture continued,

and the tortured soul found ways to silence the tormentor in her head for a while.

And even with the addition of the baby blessing and the happiest years of her life,

the tormentors lived on in her mind.

Until the day the silencer of our tortured soul’s tormentors

finished the job her tormentors began.

On this day a tortured soul left this world for some well deserved peace.

Rest in Peace.

In Memory of Constance Haider Michael - June 10, 2009

And all of the other tortured souls.
