The feelings of a broken heart
Semicolon

We walk past and don’t share a glance;
Silence and emptiness.
I try to be fulfilled in other ways, with other people
It just is not possible.

How can you give your heart—
When it isn't yours to give?
It’s yours, in him.
I am a memory of what used to be:
Emptiness.
Images flash past, a blur of the past.
I gave you everything; chances and love.

I’m left hollow;
Worse than any type of physical pain—
No one understands.

I want to move on and continue,
But the semicolon seems so unappealing now.
I thought it would give me strength;
But now all I want is for it to end.
Period.
No more semicolon. Why carry on?
Without you, it’s over.
