A poem about making ourselves believe things that we know aren't true
What's more true than a story?
More dangerous than a lie?
What's more harmful than the things we believe in our minds?
What's more painful than the lies we choose to believe?
The ones we convey to hide the pain

What's sadder than living with no truths?
Hiding who you are? Disgusing every scar? Drying every tear?
Faking a smile, laughter, and cheer?
Losing who you are because the truth's too hard?

What's worst than living a lie?
Forgetting emotion and how to cry?
Just breathing because it's what you're accustomed to?
Trapped and not knowing what to do.
Waiting for a breakthrough,
a gift from God

What's worst than lying on a pillow of tears?
Being too afraid to scream?
Wishing you could trade this life for your dreams?
Trading love for nights of passion?
Willing to do anything for satisfaction

What's worst than losing your self respect?
Living each day with painful regrets?
What's more dangerous than denial?
Just wishing it was worth your wile
