Today is May 12, 2013, and I can not wait to show Mom the beautiful cake we made for her. It is a lopsided white cake with pink flowers and purple lace. My brother's and my step sisters woke up quietly at six this morning. For the first time we work together without fighting. We do not want to wake Mom on her special day.

We all work hard. Allie and Chris who are both seventeen, are in charge of cooking the food for Mom's breakfast. Chris brakes the eggs, fries the bacon, and puts the biscuits into the oven. Allie cooks gravy and creates beautiful place. Tor and Ray are fifteen, and they decorated the kitchen. The two cut out the letters to spell out “Happy Mother's Day”, hung hand made streamers, and created paper flowers of many colors for the plate and table. Kate, who is ten, blew up balloons, helps with the cake, and she has the job of waking Mom. Kate is so charming in the morning.

We all wait in the kitchen ready to surprise Mom, but Kate comes straight to Dad carrying a note.

    “Dearest family,

Today is my day, and I have decided to go to the spa. I will be back at four o'clock.

Loving you always.

Mom”

Kate begins to cry. I hold her hand. Puts the cake, food, and drink in the refrigerator. He tries to console us ,but those were lost words. As Dad goes out to mow the lawn, we all sit in the living room.

We knew how to fix this. We took Kate and carried all the Mother Day's decorations up stairs.

When Mom came home she had Mother's Day evening in her bedroom eating and watching animated movies with all five of us.
