My life is trash.I should give up.If only everyone wasnt counting on me to save the world.
And the way they talked about this "dark life", it sounded like they were talking about ME.
" You mean I found it." snapped Drake.
"But master can't give you ALL the credit!"shouted Malky.
"Yes, she can I found it!" drake roared."End of conversation."
On that note, Malky jumped into the passengers seat of the truck and looked back at me in the rear view mirror. He looked like he wanted to say something, but he didn't, probably because he was afraid of what Drake might do. For a second I started to feel sorry for him, but then I remembered he was still taking part in my capture. Soon Drake climbed into the truck as well. " Don't worry." he called back at me. " We're just taking, well, delivering you to somewhere where you can be safe."
I'm not sure if he thought I was totally stupid or what. I mean, come on, I may have been young but I most certainly wasn't really going to believe that Malky and Drake were going to take me somewhere safe. Then I began to wonder about this "master". If thier master was a lady mabey she would be nice. Mabey Drake and Malky WERE taking me somewhere safe. Stop it! I scolded myself. There is absolutley no way! These men were huge and threatening, plus if they had wanted me to be safe they wouldn't have CAPTURED me. What I needed to focus on was how to escape.
Drake started the truck, reving the engine. Well, I clearly coudn't escape the truck now, not if I wanted to live. I would have to wait untill we got to wherever we were going. I began to study the locks on the doors of the truck. The truck wasn't locked now, which meant I could probably slip away quickly.
Drake caught me looking at the locks and reached out to a panel on the dashboard and pressed a button to lock them.
Dash it! Now I had no escape plan, except mabey to try to run out of the truck when we stopped at a traffic light or something.
As we rode on, I watched out the window of the truck. For a while we passed through the city but soon we drove into some sort of dessert. I had no clue where we could be going.
For a couple of hours we drove in silence so I had lots of time to think. I had no clue what could happen to me, and for the first time since my parents had died I felt really, truly.......scared. Alice, you need to get a grip. I told myself. I had no time to think negatively. I had survived on my own, I could survive this.
Finally Drake started to brake, and I raised up to look out the window.
I'm not sure what I expected to see, but what was there was certainly not it. Outside I saw NOTHING. All that was there were dead trees, weeds, hawks, and dust blowing in the wind. Drake stopped the truck completely, but I wasn't sure where we could go from here. But all the same Drake and Malky dragged me from the backseat into the front. Then both of them pulled on an arm, each wanting to be the one to take me.
"Give it here!' Malky yelled.
"No, it's mine!" Drake yelled giving my left arm a strong tug.
"I helped too!" Malky shouted back, giving my arm a tug that almost ripped it out of it's socket.
" IT IS MINE!!" then Drake tryed to jerk my arm again, this time very hard, but I was sick of being tugged around.
When he began to pull on my arm, I twisted and kicked him smack in the center of his face.
"Awwwwwwww!" he wailed.
I know what your thinking. An eight year old's kick shouldn't have hurt such a huge and tough man so badly. But my shoes aren't just shoes. My shoes are heavy duty combat boots with steel spikes on the bottoms that extend up to three inches. But the spikes aren't out all the time. In fact they work very simply. To extend my spikes I had to simply press the button on the top of my boot. And that is just one of my little tricks, I hadn't even brought out my sleep powder watch, the gaseline tube on my pantleg, or the bobby pins and matches taped to the inside of my shirt.
