A poem about the foundation of all that has been built and all that has been destroyed.

That building
That wall
Dismantle them both
That bridge
That tower
Tear them down
Those statues
Such ridiculous likenesses
Of no one that we
Have ever really known
Destroy those monuments
Leave nothing to honor
Those of the past
And those in the present
Leave the landscape
Naked and bare
Dare not erect anything
That could stand upon
The foundation of all
That has ever come before
Make it all new
Find a different spot
A place of unmoved earth
A place unchanged by man
And his slighted hand
Once you have found
Once you own all of it
Once it belongs to you alone
Build what it is you wish
Build it with bricks of truth
Or build it with rocks of lies
Such a distinction is for
The architect alone to decide
Build it to a height unseen
Build it to a depth disbelieved
In a size, scope, and scale
Unrivaled by anything
Ever known to our kind
Once you are done
Once you have reached
Your proverbial sun
Climb to the top
To the greatest possible height
Once there stand without fear
Have no concern
For what is further above
Or what is way down below
Just look around at this world
Known as both yours, mine, and ours
See all that there is to be seen
And in that, such a finite moment
Realize that everything you can see
And everything that you have come to
Or will further believe
Is built upon the foundation
Of what has come before
And what will in due time
No doubt be torn down…
