Brief Poem
Old men read newspapers
young men take in sights
Old women read books
young women do the same
in a different way
It's all the same
in a different way
All their minds engaging
in a toxic mimicry of thought
like flint sparking
but failing to catch and ignite
An old man looks over my shoulder
Judging me so he doesn't have to do it himself
Another one is sprawled out over his bench like a cat
A young woman catches my eye
I catch hers
but in a different way
