the magic of summer
When the sun goes down
In the month of June,
We sit on the grass
'Neath the glow of the moon.

We watch the lights
from fireflies dancing
And feel the warm breeze
From the night advancing.

The songs of the crickets
Play softly in our ears,
Relaxing our spirits
And calming our fears.

The coolness of the grass
And the warmth of the air
Heighten our senses
Until each is aware.

We smell the sweetness
Of that heavenly scent
Of honeysuckles abloom
To their fullest extent.

We can taste the salty air
Rising from the ocean,
Enticing and guiding us
Like a mesmarizing potion.

We run to the edge.
We have to jump in.
We need to feel the coolness
Of the water on our skin.

The night lasts a lifetime
And ends all too soon.
The sunrise sinks in
With the fading of the moon.

The magic is still there
In our minds and in our hearts
We will relive this night
Until the summer sadly parts.
