I know it may sound twisted, like a crazy lunatic,
Haunting Memories

I hear the lonesome whistle
of a distant railroad train,
As visions of you
dance quietly through my brain.

Where are you now I wonder?
Whose arms are you now in?
I wish I could wave a magic wand
and start it all again.

I’d tell you that I love you
and want you every day;
I'd hold your hand and kiss your lips
and beg for you to stay.
I’d be a better man,
the kind you’d want of me.
If only you were here right now,
I’m sure that you would see.

My friends tell me to move along,
that it is only smart,
But how can I find someone new
when you still own my heart?
I know it would be cleaver
to get you off my mind,
But living without you in this place
is a place I cannot find.

I wake up every morning
and your face is all I see;
It follows me throughout the day
and just won’t let me be.
I see the image of who we were
and who we have become,
Haunting memories that won’t let go,
where do they all come from?

I know it may sound twisted,
like a crazy lunatic,
But I know you and you know me
and you know that I’m not sick.
It is love that compels me;
It keeps me hanging on.
I know that you’re away for now,
but someday you’re coming home.
For now I’ll keep awaiting,
I’ll keep looking at the door,
Someday that door will open
and you’ll be gone no more.
