Seven teenagers, each with a secret. And they can't hide from it.
"Tis a pity it failed."

She ignored the comment.

"Imagine the power we could have had if it worked."

"We still have power," she retorted. "We just have to fight for it now."

He tilted his head and looked at her with mild curiosity. "Oh?"

She stood up, rustling the long skirts of her dress. "Perhaps we don't have to fight all that hard. After all, nature is as nature does. Who can escape who they are?"

He grinned, showing off his mouthful of sharp teeth. "No one can," he answered, his eyes glinting maliciously. "And anyone who says otherwise is lying to themselves."

"We don't want that," she murmured, going to stand by the window. "It might have failed, but it set in motion something that we can take to our advantage. Cruelty has been released in this process; plans have been set that can be easily twisted so we can take control."

"You sound as if you know what's going to happen," he said in a low voice, coming to stand next to her.

"It's going to take some work on our part, but it will something that we could do in our sleep," she replied. "Provided, of course, Parengua and Cheeliran keep themselves out of our business."

"No doubt they'll step in," he reminded her.

She shrugged. "And we'll stop them. All they'll do is rob us of our sleep. They're fighting a losing battle. The problem is, they don't see it yet."

"Do you think they'll meet up with Ryo?" he asked, sitting down.

"It's likely," she said. "If they can do what they want to do through Ryo, then I believe they will."

"I would like to see their faces when it all fails," he answered, losing interest in the conversation fast. Yawning, he said, "There's just one more thing that you've got to be aware of. What about the prophecy?"

She snarled. "What about it? It's nothing more than words."

"Nothing more than words. Hmm."
