Creating a story out of a sentence
Gusty winds blew leaves down the road.
Leaves swirled on the dark, cold pavement. The town was deserted. The convict running from the cruel prison was the only person here. She looked around at all the old, wooden buildings. She spotted a bar and strode towards it. There should be money or food in there, she thought. A cold wind blew open the doors, which banged against the wall. The woman ran in out of the cold. She was freezing in her thin clothes. She needed new ones because her dark clothes that identified her as a prisoner were still on her. She was lucky that guard had been so easy to bribe. A lesser woman would have screamed at the image presented inside the large building. Bright crimson splattered everything. It was on the walls, the tables, the roof, and the floor. The convict was surprised there weren't more bodies. It seemed like there should be, with all this excess of blood. Dark shadows covered the few humans. A dog was barking somewhere in the distance. A woman and child lay on the floor. It looked like something had clawed at their faces. Their eyeballs were hanging loose from their eye sockets with deep gashes running across their bodies. A small, red line ran across the little girls' neck. Her mothers' face was frozen in a permanent look of grotesque terror. What could have happened here? The woman softly walked back to the bar and, to her amazement, found hundreds of dollars behind the bar. She could rent a ship and go to another continent with all this money! She saw some more blood leading back to the room and inside it was a tiny little kitten, with fur that was the purest white anyone could imagine. The kitten looked up at the stunned woman and the tiny kitten suddenly transformed before the woman's eyes. She no longer looked cute or innocent. She was horrifying as she saw the kitten clawing at a writhing body that was laying beneath her. The man's face was completely gone, but his mouth opened and he still screamed as blood coated the deceiving kitten. The woman warily started to back up and then she turned, sprinting for the door. The kitten shrieked and the woman could hear her lunging after her. Claws as sharp as glass plunged into her neck and a sob ripped out of her throat as she thought, I would give anything to be back within the safe walls of the prison. And the kitten was victorious once again.
