crazy old man
“What is that behind the tree?” he said with a taunting voice, forcing me to look to where he was talking about.
His breath smelled like a dead corpse and he was missing half his teeth. His skin had the wrinkles of a ninety year old, but I know he is only fifty. He has been my neighbor for as long as I can remember and I never expected it to turn out like this. I knew he had some problems, but I never thought I was a part of any of it, until he proved me wrong, until this very night.
The tears burned my face like acid as I saw the figure halfway behind the tree. They were halfway behind the tree but not touching the ground. They were just hanging there lifeless and its all my fault.
He started to cackle in my ear and sent a burning rage through my body. “See what happens dear when you don’t know how to mind your own business?” he asked me.
I closed my eyes shut tight and started to shake violently. I tried to breathe but it hurt my chest.
“You’re a sick old man!” I spat at him.
He tossed me to the ground and kicked me. “You are a tease! You kept your window open every night for me and then you bring that skumbag home with you! He deserved to die! You deserve to die!” he yelled.
I heard the click of a gun and knew it was over. I looked at the ground and let that be the last thing I ever saw.
BAM is the last thing I ever heard, that night. The cops took their bodies away, and I burned my tree to the ground…
