Whats is that behind the tree?
I rushed down stairs, combing my hair and grabbing my favorite rake at the same time. My mom called for breakfast but I ignored her. I was so excited about being the first to feel the fresh cool breeze of autumn. I thought nothing could compare.
“Hey Kate!” my little brother called from the porch. “Can I help you rake the leaves this year?” I can use a little extra change from mom also.
“Sure you can bro, I cant do all this work by myself”. But first were going too start by this big tree. The neighbor said something has been mysterious about it lately. Were going to find out.
“Yay!” he said excitedly. While grabbing the trash bag, a strange noise began. My brother and me jumped back.
“You hear that Dave?” she said with no hope.
“Yes I sure” We both walked towards the tree and the sound grew louder.
“What is that behind the tree?” Kate muttered.
Dave started to run. The sound begins to follow us. It seemed as if the porch was 8 hours away. When we entered the house our voices were in fear.
“Mom, mom!” Dave said. Something is behind the tree me and Kate heard it. Kate looked out into the foggy window. Something moved its head around the tree then pulled it back quickly.
“Look Ma!” There it is.
“No honey its nothing” maybe you all are dreaming. Mom walked onto the porch and headed towards the tree. The mysterious sound was only a baby kitten searching for his mommy.
