A short, pro religious poem about my odd relationship with God above.

Broken
Bare
Naked
Aware
Reconcile this heart
Make it whole
Impossible I know
Find a way
Unbearable the day
Terrible each night
What a tedious life
Living
Seemingly
With certainty
To those outside
Looking in
I shall not
I cannot
I will never be
Forgiven
One of his
Long since lost children
God will judge
Upon his stoop
I must come to kneel
Upon my brow
Must he place his hand
Thus taking away my pain
Allowing me to breathe
Removing every burden known
And every tragedy sown
Glorious the day
Wonderful the end
Slipping further still
Eternity will become
Like a well-known home
I’ve done nothing wrong
Of course my eyes
Are increasingly blind
Survival is my only real sin
Never once as a kid
Or as an adult
Have I asked him
God above for help
I would not dare
Each lesson
Every intersection
All the impossible ways
He tested me are part
Of life, a continual game
I believe that I am meant to win
Because the greatest of odds
Have long since been stacked
But despite all of that
In the shattered realm
Of this impossible heart
There has always been
The smallest of spark
An idea and a concept
Of something beyond me
And my troublesome life
I have always known
And clearly understood
That this place
And thus this tortured shape
Were meant to be as God above
Has so graciously made them
Why holds no place
Of prominence or denial
Reconcile this heart
No doubt it will be
All but a spark
A first step down the path
A blind step off the edge
What will come next
Will without question
Concern me significantly less…
