Where did my childhood go?
Childhood

Where have you gone? I miss you so.
You left so suddenly, many years ago.
“Grow up now. What’s wrong with you?”
They scared you away and off you flew.
Are you frolicking around with Pan and the boys?
My ears are ringing with your cheerful noise.
We developed a bond, so misunderstood.
Not allowed to develop, the way that it should.
You’ve tried to return every now and then.
But were dispatched, “I’ll be back again.”
I’ve urged you to return, I cherish our time.
When we’re together, they think it’s a crime.
“You’re an adult now, quit acting like a child.”
I nodded with a frown, but you just smiled.
The older I get, seems, you’re accepted more.
That lost connection, has become a rapport.
With grand kids lurking, there’s my excuse
To act, on the floor, like I have a screw loose.
Now that you’re here, I hope you can stay.
Don’t let those others chase you away.
