Something I wrote while trying to deal with writer's block. So not very inspired.
The light in the darkness
A glowing white ball
Whose safety I harness
A soft click is your call

Heated metal and cracked plastic
Through it all you shine
More reassuring that a clock’s gentle tick
This lamp, this lamp is mine

From home to home you’ve lit the way
Neither stuttering nor failing
Deep at night in bed I lay
You’re there if the night proves too gaoling

Now slowly as you start to flicker
I hold back my breath
As much as I do try to tinker
My lamp, my lamp has left
