I like to write poems that really push the boundaries of the core idea, this is one...

Sinner
Beginner
Unrequited pipe fitter
Connecting pieces
Building confined streams
Turning them into dreams
Impossible does the truth seem
You prefer to lie
But be assured there is
Has always been
One indefensible truth
One you cannot hide
Nor change
Person of life
Broken in strife
Fall backwards
Reverse direction
And thus
All dereliction
God will forgive
At least that’s the idea
But first if you can
What you must
Consider playing along
Take each step to heart
Get down
Below your knees
Lower than any belief
Way way down
To an impossible depth
A place where darkness is clear
And where reality
Will not be spared
To a hole in the very soul
Of who you truly are
And what you’ve become
Sinners crawl
Beg if you must for mercy
Impossible is that hypocrisy
Repeatedly question God
Require his understanding
As you do it all again
Change is the bitch cousin
Or your modus operandi
You won’t ever do what it takes
You will never break any light
Only impossible blackness resides
You just cannot be saved
You were never meant to be
God above has damned you
To yourself and this world
But please
Further still indeed
Ask away if you must
If it makes you feel better
Assume every lie as truth
Put on a smug face
As you spiral lower and lower
Far below your knees
Lower than any belief
Way down
To an increasingly impossible depth
A place where darkness is clear
And where reality
Will not be spared
A place where you have always belonged
Once you are there
Once you can never return
Look up from the depths
From the sterile blackness of nothing
Both lost and gained
See that pinprick of light
In that emblazoned realm
Of so many absolutes
That is the world behind
The kingdom of him enshrined
A place that you
Have never belonged
A place outside what you
Are remotely capable of
Sinners crawl
Down every deep hole
Find a home meant to be
A reality so intently weaved
And sadness decreed
By the God of humankind
By a God that to you
Has never been meant
To be so bluntly defined…
