I wrote a concise version of this for one of my controlled assessments in my English GCSE.
I kept hoping that he would ring me back, but then I realised that my phone wasn't on. Unwillingly, I decided to get up out of bed and get ready for work. I am a parkour runner, so my daily life is considerably more hectic than the norm. After putting on my clothes and a bite to eat I headed out into the huge, hustling city to begin my commute to work.
As I was traversing through the city streets on my commute, I felt a sense of panic in the air as if something tragic had just happened. I tried to ignore this sensation as I ascended up the skyscraper to the parkour office. When I arrived in the parkour office, my colleagues and my boss greeted me as usual and sent me out on an errand. The errand was to deliver some important documents to the mayor's office. I then left the parkour office to begin my journey to the mayor's office.
On my way to the mayor's office, I couldn't help but notice all the people on the ground staring up at the city's news bulletin as if something horrendous had happened. This sent a spark of fear through my body as I approached the door of the mayor's office. When I arrived, I skeptically entered the mayor's office and took a few deep breaths. When I arrived in the office, I was horrified and stunned to find the mayor lying dead on the floor of the office. Luckily, I was not alone as my brother, Toby was standing right beside the mayor's body. My brother stared at me with trembling eyes and told me to run, and to not look back on my footsteps. At this point my heart was racing as fast as a cheetah, but I knew I had to follow my brother's advice. As my brother and I escaped through the building, a few police officers saw me and thought I was a smuggler, so they attempted to stop me by chasing me while firing stun guns. Despite their best efforts, I managed to escape without being shot.
When I got out of the skyscraper, I stopped for a few seconds to catch my breath before making my way back to the parkour office. I was unsure about sharing the terrible news, but I knew I had to. Tears filled the eyes of my colleagues and my boss as I spread the horrendous news. Following a few moments' silence, I asked my boss and colleagues if they knew anything about the death of the mayor. One of my colleagues then turned to me and told me that a former runner named Sebastian had murdered the mayor and dumped his body on the floor of his office. With this information, I left the parkour office in the hope of finding Sebastian.
While on my hunt for Sebastian, I couldn't help but notice people kneeling on the corners of the pavements and grieving other the loss of the mayor. This really showed that the citizens really cared about him. I searched through the city for several hours before finally finding Sebastian hanging on the edge of an obliquely shaped skyscraper. As I approached him, I felt a surge of fear go through my body as if I was just about to be executed. When I attempted to ask him about the mayor's death, he just looked up at me, took a deep breath and after a few seconds lost his grip, sending him plunging hundreds of metres to the ground at a death-defying speed.
With Sebastian dead, I returned to the parkour office to inform my colleagues and boss. While doing this, one of my colleagues interrupted me to warn that the police may be planning to hunt down and arrest my brother. He suggested that I should sneak into the police department and get into the security camera control room to watch and listen to the police's confidential meeting. I felt slightly unsure about pursuing this task, but it seemed like quite a good idea.
I headed out into the hectic, crazy city to journey to the city's police department. As I commuted to the police department, a lot of police cars seemed to be taking the same route as me, and this acted as a warning to be very cautious when sneaking into the security camera control room. As I came closer to the police department, more and more police cars swarmed into the car park, which sent surges of fear through my body. At this point, I was scared, but I knew I had to get inside.
After a daring sprint from the car park to the department, I crept into the security camera control room and watched the police's meeting, which was supposed to be confidential. As I was watching the meeting, I was shocked to find out that they were planning to hunt down my brother and arrest my brother, despite my colleague's warning. Having heard enough, I dashed out of the police department and headed out back towards the parkour office. While I was running through the streets, I could feel my heart pounding and getting faster by the second.
When I returned to the parkour office, I informed everyone of the situation and lied down in the break room to catch my breath. Following this, I decided to have a brief chat with my colleagues and head out to find my brother. I once again headed out through the city's hectic streets to begin my search. It took three hours, but I managed to find my brother sitting in the middle of a dark alleyway. I felt very nervous about sharing this news, but I knew that it was essential for him to know. As I broke the news to him, he got very upset, to the point of breaking down in tears. To comfort him, I hugged him and promised that everything would be fine and that he would not be arrested. Following this, we headed out in the hope of escaping the city and moving to the countryside.
When we were back on the streets, we stuck close and hoped that we would not be captured and arrested by the police. However, just five minutes into our journey, a police helicopter came by and air-lifted Toby into the air, leaving me completely star-struck standing on the ground. After this tragic event, I stopped for ten seconds to catch my breath, and then dashed up the stairs of the nearest skyscraper. Just forty-five seconds later, I was thirty stories high and standing on the summit of the building. The helicopter in which Toby was in had its door open and was just flying by my skyscraper, so I took this opportunity to make a leap of faith as the final attempt to save my brother from a twenty-five year jail sentence. Amazingly, I managed to hurl myself into the helicopter on which Toby was being transported to jail. A sudden surge of relief ran through my body as I entered the helicopter. I sat with Toby for about twenty seconds, before grabbing his arm and making a risky jump onto the nearest skyscraper, which was near the borders of the city. When we landed on the skyscraper, I gave my brother a hug as he thanked me for my relentless effort. As well as this, he whispered the following words into my ear:
"Thank you so much. I'm still alive"
