A twisted poem about a man who does what he must, at any price to be paid.

Dare
I suggest
Wicked
In his chest
Inside
A dull roar
Such a heart
Galore
Indeed
A twisted whore
Torturous
Is his fate
Undeniable
Are his ways
Kicked to the curb
By the reality of choice
And all that it implies
Living high atop
His mountain of lies
What was once true
Is no longer absolute
What could have been
Is all but gone
What is
Is all that remains
His lungs labor
Each rise
And each fall
Such a struggle
Enthralled
Burning in pain
Living again and again
Forcing him to suffer
Increasingly
In such terrible ways
His mind
Betrays his soul
Neither one does he know
He second guesses
Every one of his doubts
He believes in nothing
That he can't hold
In his crippled hands
If he can't touch it
And judge it for himself
Then he wants no part
His frail body is aged
Broken in dismay
It is twice his numerical place
He'll be dead before long
Way before death was meant
Heck a lifetime before
What he would expect
God above is nearly done
Just a few more task
Issued circumstances
That many others
Would not survive
He has put up a good fight
But such a waged war
Was never meant
He has battled proudly
Killing the enemy of his kind
He feels no remorse
How could he ever
He feels nothing at all
Except for of course
The above mentioned
Gut-wrenching pain
Dare I suggest
He'll do what comes next
And do what comes after that
He will not allow himself to fail
Regardless of the pain
Associated with being so alive
He will do what needs to be done
He always has
There has only ever been
Darkness in his sky
He sees no obvious light
No path out of this place
And the ways in which he
Must act in order to be
So purposefully defined
Which without question
Will happen long after
His time and his life
Has come to expire
Dare I suggest
What he of course
Must lament...
