Hate and common sense

Peace is of short duration
but it gives me momentary
power over the fragile thread
that holds it all together.

I cling to Sanity
by thin silken threads
frayed by the stress
in my mind.

A world of diverse factions
each whose heart's desire
is complete annihilation
of non believers to the last man.

They insist, claiming God himself,
speaking through his holy men
has challenged them in person
to purge the earth of unbelievers.

Is God out there watching
the little aggressive red ants
annihilate the black ants
just for his amusement?

Or does he turn his face aside
a lone tear finding its way
down the wrinkled length
of his cheek dripping from his chin?

Is it painful to him to see his creations
turn deaf ears and blind eyes
to the simple truth? We are in this together
whether we want to be or not!
