A short poem about changing seasons
WELCOME SPRING

It's been a long time since there was anything but gray,

Weeks turn to months, a time full of melancholy.

In the recent past, I've seen parts of me fall,

A small piece of my soul, these parts are lost forever.

Shivering as the rain pours on top of me,

Unable to seek shelter, I'm all alone on the side of this street.

As I wither in the frigid night,

I sit and ponder what's left of my life,

I stand dormant hoping this would all end.

Then light rose early today, a sliver of hope that divided the haze,

What was forced to leave, came back budding new energy.

A bird began to chirp and the joy fills within me.

The days grow longer as I welcome spring,

I think back, as I fill with green, the winter is a tough time to be a tree.
