Explaining my reasoning for writing
Why do I write?
No one reads my words
No one cares what I scrawl across the page
My feelings, my thoughts
Could matter less to you
To the millions of people on the face of the planet
I am nothing
I don't matter to anyone
I belong nowhere
I will most likely never be published
I am constantly overlooked
Passed by
Because of all the others who are better
Because of all the others who know someone
Because they are popular
I am tossed aside
As if what I have to say is pointless
No one will even glance over my works
So why do I write?
Why do I spend hours with a pencil in hand
Scratching down chapters that I think faster
Than I am able to write?
Why do I spend hours with my ideas
Staring at a computer screen in a dark room
Trying to type them out as quickly as they come?
Why do I waste my breath?
Why do I write?
The answer is simple really
I don't write for recognition
I don't write for attention
I don't write so millions can read
I write simply because if I didn't
I would die
