Losing a family member
These hands used to be strong, now they let go
This mind once so sharp, now it confuses
These feet used to dance, now they are still
This voice used to sing, now it is silenced
This heart full of love, now it slows
These eyes once so bright, now they shut
This body once full of life, now it gives up
This spirit still strong, now it moves on.

Her chair in the corner now it is empty
A place for me to turn now is gone
No more tea for two, or stories to tell
No time for the things left to say
She's my link to my past and my making
My backbone to once what was
A piece of my heart she takes with her
And only memoires with love remain
