Poem about my sister, her twin 10 year old boys and a drinking problem
Nephews

Hey Mom
We had a fun time
Is Dad OK?

They talk for a long time
So much that I think they might
Wish they didn't come and spend the night
But they love everything
They just need to make sure she's ok
And their Dad.

They have to know it's not
They have each other,
Twins can share the secrets without speaking.

We get back late
After swimming, a movie, Lego Land
She is the same as
Yesterday morning
Slurring her words
Drinking the poison
Disguised as watery orange juice.

They are happy to see her
She's glad they're home
I want to take them with me
And at the same time
Run away
Back to my own life
My own children.
My own problems.
