Impermanence abounds.
Get Off On My Cloud

Hey, you--
see that cloud up there?

Puffy white against the pretty blue,
sky blue over the darker blue sea.
Assembled of tiny molecules set free.
Warmed by the sun on that deep blue sea.

Zooming in on just one molecule,
getting closer and closer you'll eventually see
what looks like space to you and me,
like what we learned back in astronomy school.

An assembly of tiny little powerful stars
flying around a huge nucleus.
Torn apart would destroy all around us,
ending the war after the war to end all wars.

Makes me wonder why the cloud is white,
color of millions of water drops assembled in flight.
Puffy white molecules all held together.
Is that really a cloud, or just part of the weather?

Floating on earth and pulled by the moon,
two assembled parts of the Solar System,
such small bodies compared to the sun,
flying all around it, becoming one.

Imagine the power that we all rue,
tearing apart the sun and destroying the noon,
Science has proved that out there somewhere,
that power is waiting to demolish all that's there.

The sun might be old, or it might be young,
like the planets around it gravity has flung.
It's hard to imagine that the sun too will end,
it's just so hard to comprehend.

So here's my cloud floating all alone up there,
reminds me of you and your soft golden hair.
Thousands of strands combined to be one,
no more permanent than our great big sun.
