A few poems about a fire, and some of the people affected by it. |
There are fires every summer in south eastern and southern Australia, as in many other parts of the world. I live in Australia, but my heart goes out to anyone in a fire area wherever they may be. This series is about a fire, very close to home in January 2013. The photo is taken from the roadway in front of my house. That fire was coming our way and we were ready to go if it didn't stop. The wind changed, and the town survived. The Rampant Red Steer The'Red Steer' is running rampant as summer heat arrives, with fires burning in every state people struggle to survive. many homes are burnt to rubble, evacuation is a must, and when the fires are finally out Aspirations will be as dust. "Tis summer in Australia, the hottest one for years, and the firies face the prospect of battling their worst fears. Ninety fires in New South Wales, Tasmania has thirty more, I know not about the other states, But they'd have their fires for sure. Say a prayer for all the firies, most of them are volunteers, may they get rain to help them, and bring them some good cheer. |
